Unite Design, a team of five, works under the roof of the APPEDU educational institution. It is an experimental design company that acts as a link between professional training and industrial practice. Here, students can gain practical experience and become familiar with the requirements companies have. “We set great store by visual storytelling that not only shines with images but also reveals strategies for the future and is informed by boundless creativity”, that much everyone at Unite Design can agree on. The poster is just one medium of many to which this maxim applies.
Unite Design in Interview with Red Dot
Red Dot: In your opinion, are posters the ideal medium to focus attention on social and societal issues?
Unite Design: It is only one medium available to convey a message. One must, of course, keep all media in mind if one wants to communicate information in a targeted way.
Your poster series focuses on hunting out of pure greed …
I found inspiration in humankind's seven deadly sins. Humans are egoistic. Focusing on the visualisation of human greed brings the subject closer to the viewer and creates empathy. The key design elements are based on two different fonts and two words: “Greed” and the name of the respective animal. The challenge of this design was to make the situation between victim and perpetrator evident through visuals.
