iON Formula E

With its iON Formula E racing tyre, Hankook Tire is the exclusive tyre supplier of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, the first racing series for electric vehicles. In cooperation with the FIA, the company has developed a tyre that meets the requirements of the GEN 3 race cars and maximises energy efficiency by minimising rolling resistance. “The iON provides the necessary traction with great stability and heat resistance, qualities which are improved by the high silica content,” said the jury. The tyre contains approximately 30 per cent sustainable materials, such as highly functional polymers and natural oils, helping to make the Formula E an environmentally friendly racing event.
