The German Digital Award 2021 introduced two innovations at the same time: the awards ceremony had to take place virtually because of the pandemic and the trophy was made of marble for the first time. The cinematic show opener for the awards ceremony therefore addressed the conceptual idea of transformation and the materiality of the trophy. It puts the marble sculpture of Nike of Samothrace centre stage. Nike was the Greek goddess of victory, who – as a classic figure – represents the antique world. With the help of spectacular visual effects, this computer animation deconstructs the historical statue and reassembles it in the form of the award trophy.
