OpenSpace

The elegance and perfection with which the architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe created spaces, such as the famous Barcelona Pavilion at the 1929 World Exhibition, lead to a new architectural form. It was chiefly Mies van der Rohe’s understanding of space that revolutionised architectural thinking. The design of OpenSpace shower screen, based on a similar concept of architectural freedom, redefines new spaces. The shower becomes an area that can be enclosed at will. In its “passive” state, OpenSpace is an elegant wall decoration surrounded by a chrome frame. This frame contains two generously sized doors which can be easily opened when necessary. The door on the side with the shower installation is made of mirrored glass. When the door is folded up against the wall after use, the fittings disappear from sight behind it. To ensure that the shower is water tight with the floor, OpenSpace has a very coherently designed raising and lowering mechanism. Furthermore, the frame offers wall compensation of 18mm so that the shower can be fitted even if the walls are not completely even. This makes the shower screen suitable for retro-fitting in older buildings. The architectural advantage of this shower screen, with the possibility of opening and folding it away when needed, is that it can be installed in almost every room, always making it possible to create a harmonious interior without any unappealing elements.
