Mario’s Goal
Although Mario Götze was not nominated for the German national team in 2018, the professional footballer and football world champion is the face of this Samsung Football World Cup cinema commercial. It is not his triumphs but his failures and his botched season that are at the heart of this commercial, while the product presentation takes a step back. The emotional images consciously stay close to the person behind the player, who is fighting to make a comeback despite setbacks. This very personal message is underscored by the song “Hurt”. It offers a disruptive alternative to the high-energy tracks often used in sports commercials.
