TANSEISHA is an interior design studio that conceptualises retail and hospitality spaces, as well as cultural realms, including museums, exhibitions, event venues and more. Established in 1946, the studio supports the entire planning and creative process – from research and planning to design, construction and operation.

Rikuzentakata City Museum

The Great East Japan Earthquake destroyed this facility and devastated its inventory. With the help of more than 70 museums from all over Japan, some of the items were restored and are now being presented as part of a “living museum”. The shell as a key symbol of the site can be found in the exhibition space in the form of a shell-shaped spiral.
