Location:
Acoustic Experiential Worlds

Efterklang is a team of engineers, designers and technical experts that has been doing award-winning work since 1956. They create sound environments and address vibration issues across all scales and sectors. The team approaches this task with both heart and mind, to ‘tune the world’ by designing spaces where unwanted sound is minimised, allowing desirable sounds to be heard.

From Noise to Nice – The Tuning of a Playground
This playground, located on a former dry dock, also makes good use of sound design. A protective wall made of containers keeps out traffic noise, and a loudspeaker system makes it possible to play various sounds at different points. These include creative sound installations, like an interactive gorilla.

Uppsala Great Square – Remixing the Urban Soundscape
The aim of this project was to improve the sound experience in the central square in Uppsala by reducing noise levels and creating space for alternative sounds. Various soundscapes can be transmitted via loudspeakers seamlessly integrated into the lighting system, creating a pleasant atmosphere.
