Infinio® Metal Adhesive Plastic
With their groundbreaking features, metal adhesive materials (PBT/GF) has helped in the advancement of materials for mobile devices. When it comes to materials, manufacturers usually avoid using metal to build mobile devices due to possible radio interference and other issues with the material’s properties. However, applying metal can upgrade the CMF (colour, materials, finish) of the device. So this has long been a need to which a metal adhesive materials can provide a solution.
Existing methods to join metal with resin through adhesives, screws and over-moulding have clear limitations such as a low degree of design freedom. They also do not provide enough joining force that can allow for water- and dust-proof features. Metal adhesive materials, thanks to their strong binding strength on metal, address this issue and enhance the level of design freedom dramatically. Also, metal adhesive materials get handled through conventional injection moulding process for mass production, whose simpler steps translate into a significant cost reduction.
From a design-focused perspective, metal adhesive materials do not generate discomfort that is often found in materials composed of different components. Instead, they allow for a seamless design process, and their excellent dimensional stability help products retain the original design features over a long period. Anodising the surface of a metal structure enjoined with plastics also allows for upscale low-gloss surface treatment and colour options.
