The ATOM augmented reality headset, developed for the construction industry, uses an on-board computer and waveguide displays to project 3D holograms of architectural models into the worker’s field of vision. This, combined with a PPE safety certification shell helmet, makes it possible to inspect work in progress and completed work in real time, rather than relying on traditional inspection methods that only identify defects after the work is complete. “The ATOM AR headset is a convincing demonstration of how the clever implementation of new technologies can make work on the construction site easier,” was the jury’s verdict.
