Uniplan — Rethinking Architecture

At Uniplan, more than 60 years of experience meet their match in the passion to create authentic brand experiences. Working from eight different locations, the team brings together strategic thinking with design craftsmanship, engineering artistry and manufacturing expertise to offer customers and their brands a stage for moving and inspiring people. With their creation of the Hyundai stand at the CES 2022 in Las Vegas, Uniplan demonstrated how humans, machines, reality and the metaverse could all come together.

Uniplan in Interview with Red Dot

Red Dot: Technology companies tend to want to impress with innovations. You decided to take a different approach with Hyundai …

Uniplan: Hyundai is a pioneer in the robotics industry but developments in that sector can also trigger uncertainties, generally caused by a lack of knowledge and practical experience of the technology. Many people associate robots with dystopian images based on sci-fi films and not with objects that can actually help people.

You created a single multifunctional space. Why?

We designed the stand to dispel the previously described fear of an unfamiliar technology and, at the same time, tickle people’s curiosity. In other words, the aim was to make it approachable and share knowledge. We therefore created six product islands individually tailored to the different objects so as to draw attention to them and offer unique insights into the various technologies. With this stand design, we were able to dissipate some reservations people had about robotics.
