Cheers to the City of Many Cultures
The “Cheers, Macau!” project was inspired by the Macau Beer brand. It captures the essence of the diverse influences that have shaped this vibrant metropolis in southern China and combines them with elements of pop culture. The crumpled beer cans made of porcelain serve as a canvas for calligraphy and poetry, for lotus symbols and for Portuguese-tile patterns. Their realisation as a porcelain sculpture pays homage to the craft industry and unites traditional Chinese art with Western abstract art.
