Return of the Turtle
This poster aims to raise awareness of the plight of the green turtle. The motif design works with strong contrasts and colours which appear counterintuitive at first, with a bright-red turtle set against a dark-green background. The poster takes advantage of the complementary afterimage, which is a special effect occuring when looking at the poster for a long time. Anyone who focuses on the image for a few seconds and then closes their eyes will see the image in reverse colours before their mind’s eye. The green turtle is swimming in a blood-red sea.
