Re: Express Plastic To Bag
To address this problem of packaging waste, the design team experimented with better ways of recycling polymer mailer bags and transforming them into a new surface material through simple processing or pattern design. This regenerated material can then be used to create various products, such as fashionable bag designs, for a start. This is a way to breathe new life into these disposed plastic packaging materials.
The regenerated material is highly flexible and wear-resistant, with a texture that resembles vegetable tanned leather. In a bag design, for example, this material can be applied to almost every part of the bag body and used to also create a bag from a single piece of material with no stitches. Some patterns and colours on the original mailer bags are retained and treated as a unique decorative material style. The product's durability is improved by using a modular design that allows for easy disassembly or replacement of damaged parts. This bag design that is made with plastic packaging waste has the potential to bring about a more sustainable fashion trend.
