The Philips MyCreation Coastal Breeze is a series of lights made from recycled fishing nets, the production of which contributes to cleaning up the seas off the Cornish coast while also creating a value-added opportunity for the local fishing communities. The result is a series of lamps with a natural, clear design language. The maritime origins are reflected in the four different designs, which are intended to evoke the natural flow of water, fish scales, nets and sand dunes through their structure and colouring. The jury was convinced by the purposeful motivation of the luminaire series, its relevance in terms of colour and form as well as the modern design.
