Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2016 – the jury continues to grow
Kūkū
Kūkū revives the fangufangu, an ancient Tongan musical instrument that emulates the coos of the Tongan dove. Developed through an indigenised framework, it features a Pacific Kauri body, an adjustable nose cap, and a tuning dial. Kūkū enhances playability and versatility, harmoniously weaving tangible, visual, and sonic aesthetics, and bridging notions of past, present and future for diverse musical environments.
