Innovative Oil Packaging

A litre of used cooking oil pollutes a million litres of water. Rather than collecting used cooking oil in a separate container, most users dispose of it in sewage systems because of the tedious process of collecting oil. This innovative and environmentally friendly packaging proposal allows the empty bottle to be reused for the collection of used cooking oil, resulting in a circular behaviour and encouraging the user to extend the basic functionality of a PET Bottle. The solution consists of a bottle stopper that, when reversed, acts as a funnel. The bottle stopper/funnel (designed with no leakage geometry) has a detachable strainer that collects impurities. The bottle stoppers, funnels and strainers are all made of recycled ABS, allowing them to be washed and reused in the manufacturing process. The main body, which is made of recycled PET, can be produced using stretch-blow moulding technology.
