General

Every disabled person’s physical needs are unique, and factors that affect this range from the degree of amputation to the person’s height and lifestyle. However, traditional prostheses are rarely able to address these myriad needs completely without great financial cost. General is a fully adjustable prosthesis that seeks to change that. Made with flexibility and fluid movement in mind, General can be lengthened or shortened to accommodate a wide range of height and light movement. Its locking mechanisms are simple and easy to use, while its breathable mesh thigh straps provide support and comfort no matter the weather. Its false foot is designed with anti-skid soles at the bottom so it can perform with or without shoes. General also does more than just fulfil the mechanics of a missing limb. Its joint system echoes that of our own legs, letting users ease back into natural walking patterns easily. Its calf plate also mimics the contours of a natural limb, allowing for better camouflage under clothes. These factors work together to create a prosthesis that comes as close to feeling and looking as natural as possible, minimising the discomfort users may feel with oddly stiff or bulky traditional prostheses, and ultimately encouraging psychological healing.
