Aluminum Flower Garden
The interior design for the Flower bar/restaurant and dance hall was inspired by the Japanese art of origami. Aluminium – a recyclable material as thin and as flexible as paper – was used to create folded, three-dimensional flowers of organic appearance. These flowers were arranged across the ceiling to fill the space with their light and airy presence. Variations in the size and density of the flower petals impart both the function and the atmosphere suited to each area, such as lively and quiet zones that emerge through minute differences in the height and expanse of a given space. The visitors’ position and angle of vision, as well as the reflection of images and lights from the mirrors on the walls, concur to perpetually redefine the appearance of the whole space.
