Red Dot: How do you approach a new project?
Maxi-Cosi: Usually, there is a structure and a process behind every new project. While the basics are the same, the approach can vary depending on the type of project. We always kick off with a design brief – the starting point. After some very critical questions to find out the question behind the question, the design process starts with the inspirational phase.

What makes your products stand out?
There are two important points: the things the consumer will immediately see – the look, comfort and eye for detailing – and the things that are not obvious at first sight but that the consumer will experience when they are using the product, call it intuitive use. Most of all, the product should instantly be recognisable as a Maxi-Cosi stroller.

What does it take to be a successful designer?
Well, a lot of persistence and a lot of intrinsic motivation. Don’t take no for an answer and stand for what you believe in. In addition, know who your customer / consumer is and what they want. Ask a lot of questions, be curious and don’t hold back. Being a designer is a lifestyle, you live and breathe it. Where do you personally want to be in five years’ time? I really would like to develop my skills to become a specialist in sustainability and circularity.
