A project about lasting values and moral responsibility
This year, the outstanding work La Divina Commedia was honoured with the Red Dot: Junior Prize. On 2,000 pages and with over 300 drawings and graphics, the work is dedicated to the theme of “Desire“ and is based on Dante Alighieri‘s Divine Comedy. The book is published in two languages, Chinese and English, and the binding of the two versions is designed differently.
A reflection on modern society
In his project “La Divina Commedia“, Chuantao Zhu focuses a lot on modern society. The consumer behaviour, materialism, hedonism and narcissism of today‘s society struck him as particularly negative. It is in search of instant gratification and loses sight of its moral responsibility: “In response to this, I looked at old methods of discipline and came across Dante‘s 'Divine Comedy'. He deals with the narrative of a constant conflict between body and will. This is a challenge to be overcome and a force that can be transformed into virtue. “
