Exclusive guided tour at the Museum for Communication Berlin: Red Dot Award founder grants insights into the creative works of the year
Moving posters, extraordinary annual reports or innovative packaging – outstanding communication design is in the focus of Museum for Communication Berlin in Germany at the moment. Still until 13 January 2019, the studio exhibition “Best Communication Design – Red Dot Winners Selection 2018” shows a selection of the currently best creative works which won a prize in the Red Dot Award. Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot, will introduce these projects from his personal point of view on Tuesday, 11 December 2018. Entitled “Icons of Brand Design”, he invites visitors to join a guided tour during which he will provide insights into the design of our communication. Attending the guided tour is free (regular museum admission, children under 18 years go free).
Multi-facetted communication design
Analogue or digital – by using the 70 exhibited creations as examples, Prof. Dr. Zec will grant a profound overview of the latest approaches in the fields of advertising, marketing and corporate communications. From typography to corporate design to apps and TV ads, he will acquaint the attendants with the various facets of prize-winning and outstanding communication design as well as with his personal favourite works. The exhibits illustrate how designers, agencies and companies from across the globe communicate in an effective and creative manner today. During the round tour, Peter Zec will also explain the background of the exhibition, the Red Dot Award which is one of the world’s largest and most important design awards.
Highlights of the exhibition
The studio exhibition presents all projects which were awarded the highest distinctions “Red Dot: Best of the Best” and “Red Dot: Grand Prix”. Moreover, it provides an exemplarily insight into the creative achievements of the agency and brand of the year as well as the best up-and-coming designer.
Among others, the “Genesis Gangnam Showroom” by Hyundai Motor Company, which was awarded the title of “Red Dot: Brand of the Year 2018”, is being presented. The salesroom enables a totally new brand and product experience and communicates the quality of the luxury brand “Genesis” in an impressive manner.
Visitors to the exhibition can also look forward to the achievements of the Red Dot: Agency of the Year 2018. Banda Agency enthuses with creative projects which help brands gain more visibility. Among others, the full-service agency created the corporate design for its home country. It aims at supporting Ukraine in being perceived in a more positive way around the globe.
A contribution to the perception of one’s own environment was designed by Tom Hegen, who won a prize for the best piece of work from an up-and-coming designer. He received the Red Dot: Junior Prize 2018 for his coffee table book “HABITAT – Vom Mensch geprägte Lebensräume” which visualises human intervention in natural environments impressively.
