Since 2008, the honorary title “Red Dot: Agency of the Year” has been awarded annually as part of the Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design.
The title “Red Dot: Agency of the Year” stands for the highest design quality and at the same time symbolises recognition for strategic skill and visionary thinking. The award-winning agencies have set lasting standards in brand and communication design in the Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design.
A special feature of this honour is its exclusivity, as there is no open competition for this title. It is awarded to an agency that stands out in the competition with its performance.
The highlight is the presentation of the “Stylus” challenge cup. It is presented each year on the stage of the Konzerthaus Berlin by the previous year’s winner to the new title holder. The trophy was designed and produced by Simon Peter Eiber on behalf of the Niessing brothers from Vreden. Each year, the Niessing jewellery manufactory engraves the name of the new Red Dot: Agency of the Year on the trophy. It is thus an enduring symbol of excellence in communication design.
The awarded agencies of the past years illustrate the diversity and innovative power of the industry and prove that design has aesthetic as well as cultural and strategic relevance. With the title “Red Dot: Agency of the Year”, Red Dot emphasises the central importance of communication design in our globally networked visual culture.
