“China Good Design”: second “Communication Salon” successfully held in Shanghai
On 8 September 2015, the second session of the “China Good Design Communication Salon” was held in Shanghai at the International Convention Center. Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot, has led through the salon with nearly 100 guests from the fields of manufacturing, design, media and investment. Among the attendees were Red Dot juror Professor Michel de Boer, Chairman Shao Longtu and Senior Arts Director Zhao Zuoliang from Shanghai SHAW & SHAW Brand Consulting, Chief Editor of Home.foucus.cn Rao Jianghong, Founder of Shanghai’s famous non-profit network for creative people “Fasheng” Ni Haijun and Manager of Design Department of YAMAHA Music & Electronics (China) Co., Ltd. Yukinori Mikage.
For many years, excellent design in Europe, North America and Japan is represented by competitions like the Red Dot Design Award. In addition, “China Good Design” is specifically geared to the Chinese market: because the new international award pays attention to Chinese habits. In order to meet this requirement, “China Good Design” is organised by Red Dot. With six decades of experience, Red Dot has the expertise to operate an international design award and has the appeal to attract international experts: During the “Communication Salon”, Professor Dr. Peter Zec introduced the globally well-known jurors of the first “China Good Design” competition who will guarantee a fair and professional assessing of the submissions.
During the “Communication Salon”, the “Xiamen International Design Business Week - Red Dot in China” and Home.focus.cn concluded a media partnership. Rao Jianghong, Chief Editor of Home.focus.cn, considered: “In view of the current culture background, good design from China should pay attention to the new attitude to life, a new lifestyle as well as new aesthetics”.
In August 2015, the first “Communication Salon” was held under the motto “Good design for China” at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Beijing. The salon was attended by 104 top leaders.
The registration phase is ongoing until 29 September 2015. All submissions will be assessed by an international, independent expert jury. After a pre-selection by the jury, the nominated products will be judged and later displayed on site during the “Xiamen International Design Business Week - Red Dot in China 2015”. The fair will be held from 30 October until 2 November at the International Conference and Exhibition Center in Xiamen, China.
