In the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2019, companies and designers handed in their newest products amongst others in the categories “Garden furniture” and “Garden appliances, garden tools and garden equipment”. Only those that convinced with good design quality received the distinction “Red Dot”. In this article, you can learn more about five outdoor products which stood out with excellent functionality and perfect aesthetics.
Pergola “SO!”: modern design meets newest technology
In order to enjoy the summer time to the fullest, protection against sun and rain is essential when sitting on the terrace. The pergola “SO!” from Belgian manufacturer Winsol more than fulfils this need. It combines ultra-modern design with state of the art technology and integrates LED lights as well as an audio system which can be controlled by a smartphone or a tablet. The patented motorisation ensures that the louvres automatically choose the ideal position according to the insolation and other weather conditions. The starlight, coloured LED lights and the video projection function create a real outdoor experience.
“Gina Recamier Right”: seating furniture with haptic materials and a modern silhouette
Protected against sun and rain, one can completely relax on the modular lounge seating “Gina Recamier Right” which is part of JANUS et Cie’s collection created together with architecture and design icon Piero Lissoni. Thanks to the solid aluminium frame and the resistant material, the product is suitable for the use outside. Due to the good balance between style and comfort, it can also be placed in the living room. Gina Recamier Right ideally fits its environment as the cushions and pillows can be arranged individually. Haptic materials, durability and a modern silhouette are just some of the characteristics which make the lounge seating so special.
“Husqvarna Automower 435X AWD”: mowing progressively and intelligently
In order to enjoy the time on the terrace or the balcony to the fullest, a flawless lawn is a must for many garden lovers. With the “Automower 435X AWD”, Husqvarna presents an innovative lawn mower, which breaks new ground. With the help of a four-wheel drive and articulated steering, it easily manages to achieve an ideal result – even on tough terrain with an incline of up to 70%. The robot effortlessly surmounts uneven grounds, narrow places and obstacles. The battery power as well as its artificial intelligence let the lawn mower work quietly, emission-freely and fully automated. The new interface as well as the option to control it via app enable an intuitive communication with the device. Dynamic lines as well as a waisted shape underline its intelligent, progressive design.
“4K Charcoal BBQ”: innovative charcoal barbeque
What would the garden season be without barbecue evenings with family and friends? The “4K Charcoal BBQ” takes the outdoor-cooking experience to the next level. Together with Design + Industry, the Australian manufacturer Everdure and the 3-star chef Heston Blumenthal developed a product that has an electric charcoal-ignition, a digital touch-screen, a precise airflow-control as well as six temperature probes with Bluetooth connectivity. The sensors relay data to the display or to a connected smartphone, making it possible to track the progress of the cook while the hood is closed. Furthermore, charcoal can be easily added through the side reloading hatch.
Lantern “SPIN”: impressive flame pattern
For the barbecue evening to become really cosy, it needs a pleasant lighting: “SPIN” is a vortex of flames in a glass cylinder which ensures bonfire atmosphere on the balcony or the terrace. The impressive dance of the flames is based on bioethanol burnt in a can. With a rod, the light from höfats can be easily fixed in the ground. Thanks to an increasing base, it even makes a better figure on the ground and becomes the eye-catcher of any garden party.
