A successful relationship: Design Ballendat und the Red Dot Design Award

Design Ballendat and the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen share a long relationship. In the early 1990s, the design studio was awarded with the distinction for highest design quality (now "Red Dot: Best of the Best") for the stacking chair Space and the cafeteria chair Step. Over the years, the design studio based in Germany and Austria received a total of 33 awards in the Red Dot Design Award. In 2015 alone, six product designs convinced the Red Dot jury.

Design Ballendat is known for developing leading furniture for offices and living spaces. In 2015, the company has received the coveted seal of quality for good design, the "Red Dot", for the chairs Camiro, Uneo and Pelikan, the wingback chair Oasis, and for the seat and table combination VLEGS. Moreover, the Bench V-Solid was also awarded with the Honourable Mention.

The swivel chair Camiro by Girsberger can be used in a conference area as well as in the office. The seat appears to float on the aluminium supports, giving the chair its characteristic look. Oasis by Mobica is a reinterpretation of a wingback chair, which consists of a curved steel-tube covered by knitted fabric. Manufactured by Nurus A. S., Uneo focuses on functionality. This is achieved through an easy control mechanism and a simple geometry. Profims’ chair Pelikan has a special storage place which is useful if space is limited. VLEGS by Begasit is characterised by elliptic frame tubes, which form an aesthetical unit out of table and bench. And the Bench V-Solid by Voglauer Möbelwerk invites the user to relax in a timeless shape.

This is how, the design studio successfully demonstrates its high design continuity and strength with the regular participation in the Red Dot Design Award, the internationally renowned product design competition. The team of Martin Ballendat creates its innovations for leading manufacturers in over 12 countries. More than a million sold products - framed by Design Ballendat - prove the design competence economically.
