The art book “Conditions” was designed for the Danish architectural office Dorte Mandrup with the purpose of paying tribute to the extreme conditions of the Arctic. In its silver vacuum packaging, the book looks like a survival kit at first glance. As a stand-alone supplement to Dorte Mandrup’s recent atmospheric exhibition at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2018, the book documents the challenging conditions for the construction of the Icefjord Centre in Greenland. The content tells the story of vast distances, cold winds, floating icebergs and the overall harshness of Arctic conditions. Large-format landscape photos supplemented by impressive photo spreads show the fascinating aesthetic of the region.
