An international jury evaluates all entries and decides which will receive the Red Dot seal of quality. The winner label enjoys an international reputation and is present in all important markets.

In the Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design, there are three distinctions. The Red Dot: Grand Prix is the top individual award and is given to a maximum of one project per category. Projects and brands that impress with their excellent design quality and creative achievements are honoured with the Red Dot: Best of the Best. The Red Dot is the award for high design quality.

The Red Dot: Best of the Best is the distinction for very high design quality. Only projects that win over the jury with their very high design quality and creative achievement are awarded the Red Dot: Best of the Best.

The Red Dot: Grand Prix is awarded for outstanding design. It is awarded to the best work in a category that is characterised by exceptional creativity and design quality.
