With the TNG Tram New Generation for Brussels, STIB/MIVB is strategically expanding its fleet to give it a harmonised identity across generations. Owing to the fact that the long-term project extends over more than 30 years, timeless design and durable materials are a must. For implementation, a technical platform was chosen that offers room for individualised elaboration. The design focuses on making entrances larger and creating more – and more flexible – seating options. The new arrangement is more open, creating additional capacity at peak times and more comfort at off-peak times. The jury was particularly impressed by the sustainable design concept for the interior, with its appealing feel and spatial composition.
