The Multimedia Room of the Exhibition “Paul Gauguin”
The exhibition “Paul Gauguin” (2015) at the Fondation Beyeler art museum in Riehen/Basel, Switzerland, featured an expansive multimedia mediation room that offered visitors new possibilities in art education and a playful approach to motifs of the life and work of the artist. Conceived as a combination of physical and virtual elements, it presented intuitive opportunities for interaction and an emblematic visual concept. The magical centre of the room was formed by six interactive books. As readers leafed through them, each page unfolded anew before their eyes, for the printed pages were supplemented by projected content, thus permitting interactive elements and moments of surprise in the form of animation with sound.
