Polaris Type I
Taur, The Electric Road Scooter
Taur is built for the open road. A ‘twin ski’ position allows the rider to face forward properly, just like being in a car or on a bicycle. Being two to three times wider than standard e-scooters, it provides significantly improved stability and traffic awareness. Charging requires no special infrastructure and can go from 0% to 80% in under two hours, or 0% to 100% in three hours.
Taur’s tyres are 12.5 inches in diameter, which is 50% larger than that of portable e-scooters. This is achieved through the weight and space efficiencies of the foot platform design. At night, a rear light illuminates from behind the rider, making them completely visible from head to toe. The vast majority of urban trips are less than 25 miles in distance, and Taur’s range is sufficient for 9 out of 10 return trips. This electric scooter that weighs only 35 pounds and folds up in under 10 seconds can be stored vertically in a fraction of the space that conventional e-scooters or bicycles require. It also locks both electronically (via a wireless fob) and physically (with a lock through frame and wheel).
Taur’s components are standardised. Unlike most e-scooters, its parts are widely available and each one can be replaced in under five minutes. Made of five easily replaceable modules, it is the first e-scooter that can be serviced at any bicycle repair shop in the world. Taur is made from over 90% sustainable materials, including fully recyclable aluminium and steel.
