Sunflower
Sunflower is a concrete fire pit with a unique form that proposes a new direction for concrete fire pit fabrication. Traditional concrete fire pits are made using a single large mould, resulting in heavy pieces that are difficult to finish, store, move, and transport. SUNFLOWER offers a modular approach, supported by an internal metal frame, where smaller concrete pieces are repeated to create its unique geometry.
This design facilitates on-site assembly, and requires a much smaller mould, making each piece easier to finish, handle, and store. The modular approach enables experimentation and customisation, allowing variations in form, colour, tone, material, and finish, as well as the fire’s projected light. Inspired by a sunflower, each concrete piece resembles a petal. Each one. also has a unique tone or colour and can be easily replaced when damaged.
Sunflower’s characteristic form enhances its emotional and contemplative allure, beckoning users to gather around. When in use, the fire is held by the metal frame, with light being channelled through the repeated pattern, casting radiant beams. This interplay between light and shadow creates a captivating and intimate ambience, where the flickering flames breathe life into the surrounding stone, evoking a sense of tranquillity and wonder.
