Smart Pain Monitoring
Smart Pain Monitoring expresses of pain through a new language. The patient’s pain is translated into objective figures and graphs, allowing medical staff to fully understand the pain level. All the data can be monitored in real time, and the continuous accumulation of pain data can be a great source for developing the algorithm for pain analysis, providing efficient pain management.
Up till now, patients’ pain was primarily assessed using a questionnaire based on the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). As a result, it has been difficult to express and comprehend the pain in detail, and it was nearly impossible to monitor the pain in real time. Smart Pain Monitoring, however, enables patients to communicate the intensity and duration of their pain through manual grip force. The intensity of pain is expressed in figures ranging from 0.0 to 10.0 in units of 0.1.
In addition, Smart Pain Monitoring also tracks pain patterns. This will enhance the analysis of pain associated with various diseases, as well as the comprehension of drug treatment and post-surgery recovery. In the case of a chronic pain patient, tracking changes in pain can help doctors understand how the disease is progressing, and can be used to make decisions when prescribing pain relievers.
