Simplicity, precision and dynamics are elementary components of the design language of Canyon Bicycles – and they also manifest themselves in the latest addition to the Canyon family in an unmistakable way: The Roadlite:ON CF 9 LTD is an electric city bike that primarily catches the eye with its extremely reduced silhouette. This was achieved through an impressive degree of component integration. The cables of the disc brake, the light and the remote control are invisibly routed in the cockpit. Moreover, the lever mounts for operating the brakes are integrated into the handlebars and the lighting system is for the first time fully integrated into the frame. The lightweight, compact FAZUA motor also blends seamlessly into the down tube and underlines the sporty, minimalist look of the bike. In addition to the aesthetic quality, the quality of use of a bicycle is of course also of utmost importance. The fact that these two qualities can be mutually dependent becomes clear with the Roadlite:ON CF 9 LTD when considering how the claim to design a bicycle that is as integrated and dynamic as possible is brought in line with the desire to ensure a comfortable riding position. In the search for ways to do justice to these contradictory approaches, a completely new design element was created in the form of the “Sharks-Fin”. It visually shortens the head tube length, lowers the top tube towards the front and also enables a partial integration of the ergonomically designed cockpit. This innovation increases both the dynamic impression of this e-bike and its comfort. However, basic comfort is already ensured by the low weight of the bike. The Roadlite:ON CF 9 LTD is built on a carbon frame that weighs in at just 1,550 grams in size M. All bike components together add up to a total weight of 14.45 kg, so that the e-bike can be carried easily on short distances. Behind this high weight reduction is a finite element analysis in which the engineers look at and optimise each component individually.
