Short Film
Leave Me Alone
The number of elderly singles in China is rising. This short film is a reminder that people should look more after their senior citizens, even if they say that they want to be left alone. The film documents the everyday life of an elderly man. The calm flow of images indicates how slowly his days pass. The camera angle focuses the viewers’ attention on details such as a dripping tap or the man’s worn out shoes. The message of the film is to pay more attention to these details and that even small gestures, such as the new pair of shoes, which the old man is given by his daughter at the end of the film, can have an effect.
