The i-Flex is a futuristic non-pneumatic tyre concept with a diameter of 400mm and a width of 105mm, designed in the form of biometrics. Unlike conventional tyres, it provides greater safety in the event of a tyre puncture-related accident. It is also ideal for autonomous driving mobility because it does not require air pressure maintenance. The i-Flex was developed through rigorous biomimetic studies and testing to provide the necessary amount of shock absorption and load- bearing performance while driving. It is characterised by the design of a multi-layer interlocking spoke, which is inspired by the cellular structure of living organisms. By three-dimensionally structuring the cell structure of living things, the multi-layer interlocking spoke is capable of absorbing road surface shock. In addition, the hexagonal and rectangular cell structures of varying rigidity are designed to be organically interlocked, enabling more stable load support.
