CAROLA’S GARDEN

返回 Download

CAROLA’S GARDEN is a 32-metre-high panorama by the artist Yadegar Asisi for the Panometer Leipzig, an exhibition venue whose name is a combination of its former use as a “gasometer” and “panorama” to form a new word. The extraordinary dimensions of the more than 100-year-old gasometer make it possible to exhibit huge artworks that allow the garden to be experienced as a microcosm. The 360-degree installation focuses on a goblet in front of which visitors shrink to the size of flower pollen and discover the fascinating scenery of a home garden in enormous enlargement. In this way, the 3,500-sqm artwork thematises a world that seems familiar to everyone, yet opens up insights into structures and details of nature that otherwise remain hidden from the human eye. The panoramic painting was created entirely digitally and printed on a special fabric, while a 32-channel sound system and 120 spotlights bring the painting to life with sound and image. The combination of images taken with a scanning electron microscope and classical photography takes visitors beyond the limits of natural perception.

The 360-degree installation CAROLA’S GARDEN is entitled “Return to Paradise” and manages to do just that: in front of the gigantic panorama, the garden spreads out as a lively and picturesque microcosm whose beauty and diversity the visitor cannot escape. Highly artful and rich in detail, the photographs and paintings fascinate visitors and offer an impressively immersive experience, also thanks to state-of-the-art sound and image technology.
