Interview with Design by AO

Red Dot: What does design mean to you?
Design by AO: As for me, design means communication with the market, society and people.

What intention do you pursue with your award-winning work?
I focus on understanding the context, striving to convey the information accurately and clearly, and establishing sentiment and experience connections with the audience. I want to present the hidden value in a unique and visualised way.

Which three adjectives best describe your award-winning project?
Exquisite, authentic and clear.

Was your award-winning work inspired by current social issues?
Currently, many products on the market are over-packaged. We hope to present the quality and value of the project and the brand in a more laconic way through design.

Please describe the concept of creativity against the background of your award-winning work.
The Full Moon Tea gift set contains three types of white tea produced in different years. We combine the meaning of the full moon with the brand concept, sketching the mountain scene under the full moon by cutting paper and using the concave-convex technique to show the cleanliness and delicacy of the white tea. The white tea of different years is packed in three separate boxes and placed side by side. The boxes also form an image of the full moon over mountains and forests. The intriguing moons over the mountain and forest scenery convey an unconventional festival atmosphere to customers upon receiving the tea gift. It looks simple but visually delicate, elegant in details and texture.
