Interview with Beijing EEO Education Technology
Red Dot: Why did you become a designer?
Beijing EEO Education Technology: I think life is full of uncertainties. No one can know what will happen next. So I chose to do my favourite thing, and that is design. Luckily, I could translate my interest in designing into being a designer. I was, I am and I will always be passionate about design.
To what extent do you think new technologies are changing design?
Design will be directly affected by the advent of new technologies. So challenges come with opportunities. The advancement in materials, tools and computing capacity will generate more deep and macro-level needs. Thus designers will be given more latitude in their work and have chances to tackle complicated and systematic issues. Also, designers have to be better qualified as they need to keep abreast of the latest trend, and apply the new technologies to solve problems and create value in their design.
How would you define good communication design?
Good communication design, in my opinion, should have the following features: Firstly, be effective. It should address the target issue and deliver the expected results. Secondly, be trustworthy. Communication helps to create mutual trust, present professional abilities and grasp the essence of the problem. Thirdly, be reciprocal. Good communication can cut the cost of errors, tackle problems and generate solutions effectively, thus achieving a win-win situation.
What intention do you pursue with your award-winning work?
We believe every object has vitality. So we design to awaken their future form and bring out the unique value of products to create more value for users and the society.
