Yayoi Kusama

This illustration portrays the Japanese female artist and writer Yayoi Kusama, born in 1929, in a highly subtle manner. Against the backdrop that she has mental problems and has found much inspiration in her illness, this illustration aims at visualising her artistic world. Throughout her career, Kusama has worked in a wide variety of media, including painting, collage, sculpture and performance art. The portrait is done in pencil and coloured digitally. The design of the crow was realised using a scratchboard. The crow was then scanned and placed together with the figure of the artist.
