In 2011 the People’s Bank celebrated its Golden Anniversary – 50 years of service as a State bank for the people of Sri Lanka. Its 2011 annual report reflects the significance of this event in all aspects of the design. The custom-made brass cover is embellished with traditional Sri Lankan art engravings. The legend in Sinhala letters is a greeting phrase of Sanskrit origin meaning “May it be well with thee”. This idea also reflects the philosophy of the bank: serving the clients, so that they achieve prosperity.
