RAVENCHORD exposes all functional elements, similar to a guitar or harp, allowing people to see and appreciate the music creation process. Its compact spiral form results from the logical string layout, with short treble strings arranged vertically on the left, progressively growing into long horizontal bass strings on the right. With RAVENCHORD, musicians face the audience, allowing their emotion and passion to be seen and appreciated. The ergonomics are ideal, featuring a standard 88-key layout and three pedals positioned and dimensioned identically to a traditional piano, ensuring no learning curve. Additionally, it is lighter and more adaptable to various spaces with its thin, vertical body. The concept for RAVENCHORD emerged when the designer, while listening to classical music, visualised how each instrument in the orchestra had a unique appearance derived from its method of sound production. Unlike other instruments, traditional pianos hide their workings, position the pianist sideways to the audience, and do not project sound directly to the audience. RAVENCHORD was born from the idea of liberating the piano’s mechanics, making its beauty visible and its functions more expressive.
