Interactive Digital Experience
Pro Nemus
Pro Nemus is the visitor centre of the Finnish Metsä Group, which operates in 30 countries in the paper and forestry industry, producing paper, pulp, tissue and paperboard, as well as wood products. Featuring information on the group’s business, products, innovations and ways of working, the Pro Nemus Innovation Centre is located deep in a Finnish forest at a state-of-the-art bioproduct mill that processes wood and pulp to create products of the future without the use of fossil fuels, while still generating excess bioenergy. Designed as a stage for interactive digital experiences and constructed entirely out of ecological Finnish wood, the centre provides an experiential cross section of the life cycle of a forest, as well as information on the impact of bioeconomy in a world that must increasingly rely on responsibly sourced, renewable raw materials. The impressive animations and installations on display at the centre repeatedly integrate the senses into the digital world, creating a staggering holistic experience.
Statement by the Jury
Highly fascinating, interactive and holistic, the Pro Nemus visitor centre presents itself nested in an astounding architecture. The featuring exhibition and installations not only offer a playful and stimulating introduction to the forest world and its complex natural interrelations, they also turn the entire issue of sustainability into an experience that appeals to all the senses.
