Since its foundation in 1884, Bvlgari has been the Roman jeweller well known for its unique proportions, the use of pure shapes and the combination of unconventional materials, but also for being the jeweller of the stars of the Dolce Vita. This brand combines Italian design with highest Swiss watchmaking know-how. The Octo Finissimo Automatic is a contemporary representative of this legend and as such fascinates with an expressive purist design. Consistent with the brand tradition, the goal of the watch’s delicate design was to summarise Bvlgari’s creative audacity and technical capacity through a conscious reduction. Coming with a sturdy sandblasted titanium case and a strap that is perfectly integrated in form, the Octo Finissimo Automatic aimed at innovating an ultra-thin watch archetype, in order to create one of the thinnest automatic watches ever. Thanks to its automatic movement that is only 2.23 mm thick, this watch is exceptionally thin and impresses with the simplicity of its octagonal shape. In addition, its design also documents the quality standards of the company Bvlgari, as the movement, case, bracelet and dial are handcrafted in-house. Showcasing a restrained look and exceptional user comfort, the designers have managed to lend the Octo Finissimo Automatic an “urban” appearance that makes it well-suited for everyday use.
Statement by the Jury
The Octo Finissimo Automatic fascinates with an enticing interplay between perception and form. As an extremely flat model, this automatic watch impresses with its almost square appearance, despite actually being octagonal. Its titanium case with integrated titanium strap provides a pleasant feel and sits perfectly on the wrist. The distinctive, brand-typical design of this watch, which only Bvlgari watches possess in this form, is of remarkable quality.
