“Enduring, not ultimate form”: from “Industrieform” to Red Dot (1980 - 1997)
NUÉE - Urban Canopy
NUÉE is a suspended installation that creates a cooling microclimate and provides much-needed relief for the urban population throughout the summer season. The system can be installed in strategic locations to make summer outdoor activities more enjoyable. NUÉE is designed to provide shade, humidify the air, and cool the surfaces below, which would otherwise radiate heat throughout the night. This seasonal installation provides climate control in private or public areas of varying sizes by creating microclimates on terraces, park-lets, sidewalks, or any urban space.
The system is composed of lightweight large and medium-sized disks that are attached to a cable system at various heights. They create a cloud-shaped urban canopy that moves freely like tree branches, thereby significantly lowering the ambient temperature.
