Board Game

Meltdown

Global warming is a complex issue that is difficult to convey to primary school children. GEOlino, the children’s science magazine from one of the largest publishing houses in Europe, Gruner + Jahr, set out to change this and introduced the first-ever melting board game. Children create ice floes by filling a moulded tray with water and freezing it. The floes are then placed on a spongy game board, where players have to rescue polar bears while the ice floes are melting away. By positioning the imminent danger of real-world polar bears as the key game element, Meltdown makes global warming palpable.
