Luzerne draws on over 70 years of tableware manufacturing expertise from its parent company Hiap Huat Holdings headquartered in Singapore. Since 2004, Luzerne has been designing and producing premium-quality tableware for renowned restaurants, hotels and chefs around the world, as well as for Singapore Airlines. Among other things, Luzerne pioneered the creation of fine china without animal bone ash. Today, Luzerne produces up to 28 million pieces of ceramic and stone tableware annually at their fully-automated factory in Dehua, China, a city that is also known as the World Ceramics Capital. Every piece is refined and perfected by hand at the end of the production process – it is painted or glazed by hand according to the design specifications. Luzerne also produces series that are created in cooperation with artists, architects and external designers. The Luzerne word mark consists of a characteristically curved custom script “L” and the rest of the company name, which appears in Times Regular. The brand’s primary colour palette comprises a turquoise blue (Pantone 3115 C) and a grey tone (Pantone 877 C), as well as black and white. The brand vision of Luzerne is “Everyday Best”, which expresses the claim that it offers tableware of high quality in terms of design, craftsmanship and manufacturing for use in everyday life as well as for special occasions. This claim is further underlined by an image style that stages the tableware as part of stylishly laid tables and artfully arranged dishes – in many cases photographed frontally from above, resulting in an appearance of strong geometric structures. In order to bring the brand to life, “The Luzerne” was opened in Dehua in 2019, a hybrid of hotel, museum and factory, in which guests are invited to learn about the rich tradition and present of the porcelain craft. Ceramic culture is omnipresent there: in the rooms, while dining in the teahouse or on the rooftop terrace, as works of art in the hallways, in the shop, in the museum and in the artist workshops, where guests are welcomed to lend a hand themselves. In addition, Luzerne also acts as a sponsor of events such as the World Gourmet Summit, which ensures a high level of brand recognition in the hotel and catering industry.
