“Enduring, not ultimate form”: from “Industrieform” to Red Dot (1980 - 1997)
Kiwi TV Box
Kiwi TV Box goes beyond a typical TV Box and is designed to address numerous issues TV boxes face during the design and manufacturing stages. Typical TV Boxes are heavily subsidised by the main broadcaster, and thus costs are often minimised to increase the return on investment. However, broadcasters still want to create a good impression with a product that is consistent with their brand. TV Boxes need to look familiar, but still be different.
Unlike others, the Kiwi TV Box uses different finishes and patterns to affect the colour and shape. To reduce costs during mass production, the different product ‘looks’ are achieved by changing the surface of the colour chips with a wide variety of flat and wavy surfaces, matt and glossy finishes.
Kiwi TV Box’s unique design and production processes address this issue in a cost-effective way, as the box is easy to produce and quick to assemble too. Above all, Kiwi TV Box needs to work: it meets international safety standards, EMC regulations, has good Wi-Fi performance and good heat dissipation.
