The iXY is an up-market stereo microphone for mobile Apple devices whose design was based on functional considerations: The distinctive configuration of the cylindrical capsule housing follows the exact definition of “XY microphone alignment”, a professional recording process for an accurate stereo image. The capsule housing and base have been developed with their acoustic properties in mind, to avoid interference from reflections and thus assure optimal directional and frequency characteristics. The iXY is made completely of metal and provides effective shielding from the electronics. The design of the outside and other elements is adapted to a harmonious interplay with Apple devices which use the microphone.
