This exhibition introduces the 2018 Hsinchu City Glass Art & Design Festival. As the Chinese city has been known for its glass industry since 1925, the exhibition showcases traditional craftsmanship as a drive for local creativity. By imagining glass as a “cultural container”, the exhibition starts with a 143 cc glass cup, which is otherwise commonly seen in Taiwan food stalls. It explores themes of everyday life, including traditional pickled food, tea culture, temple snacks and souvenir savoury foods. The overall aim is to inspire a new understanding between glass and living aesthetics, urban marketing and cultural design.
