At the press of a button, the ultra-lightweight Hover Camera X1 drone can take flight from and land in the palm of the user’s hand. The propellers on each side are fully enclosed in cages to protect them and other objects from damage in the case of collisions. A gimbal-mounted camera provides digitally stabilised pictures, which can be wirelessly transmitted over distances of up to 30 metres. The drone is controlled via app and can also orient itself by analysing camera pictures and the data from a laser rangefinder. The jury praised the design, which is focused on safety and also allows for risk-free indoor use.
